Remove iron from pool water 

The appearance or metallic taste in the pool water may indicate the presence of iron or manganese. It is frequent that in pools that are filled with well water, when in contact with sunlight, they suffer a process of oxidation and cause an excess of iron or even metallic stains in the pool of brown, black, orange color, depending on the metal that originates them.

It is important to act as soon as possible to avoid that stains appear in the pool and that it is more difficult for them to disappear.

Lamotte Insta Test test strips are available to test for the presence of metals. 

Components Insta Test test strips

• 25 test strips
• Bottle with standard color chart
• Scale of: 0,0.3,0.5,1,3,5 ppm 

Directions for use

1. Immerse the test strip in the water sample to be tested and remove it after 2 seconds. 
2. Remove the test strip from the sample and hold it with the test pad facing upwards. Shake once to remove excess water.
3. Wait 60 seconds and compare with the color scale printed on the bottle (result expressed in ppm iron). 

Advice for use

• Keep the tube tightly closed to prevent the entry of moisture. 
• Avoid handling the strips with wet or damp hands. 
• Store in a cool, dry place. 
• Use before the expiration date printed on the bottle.

How to remove iron from pool water 

Once the analysis has been carried out with the analytical strips, check the value obtained in the bottle. If the level obtained is higher than 0.3 ppm of iron we will have to apply a metal remover. 

• If there is presence of metals but no stains we will use the product Ion Magnetic.
• If there is presence of metals and stains in the pool we will apply SOS Manchas.
