Removing metallic stains from swimming pools
Metallic stains arise when metals in the water react with the disinfectant to form unstable oxides that precipitate and deposit on coatings or surfaces.
Metals in the water can enter through different ways:
- Filling the pool with well water: there is usually iron and manganese present so the stains will be characterized by a brown or rust orange color.
- Metallic elements of the pool: dissolution of metallic elements of the pool such as stainless steel accessories.
- Galvanic corrosion: in salt chlorination pools, charged metal ions remain dissolved in the water and can form stains.
- Addition of chemical products: some products such as algaecides, multifunction compacts, copper sulfate... can cause green, purple or gray stains.
Kit SOS Manchas
The Piscimar kit to remove metallic stains from the pool is composed of:
- Resticlor 300 gr: removes chlorine, bromine or active oxygen.
- Spot Remover of 1,3 Kg: allows to remove stains.
- Ion Magnetic of 1,2 Kg: helps to sequester suspended metals.
Each kit can treat a maximum volume of 65 m³.
How to use the kit SOS Manchas
- Check that the level of disinfectant (chlorine, bromine or active oxygen) is less than 0.5 ppm. If not, add Resticlor, the dosage is 1.5 g/m³ to remove 1 ppm of chlorine.
- Add 20 g/m³ of Spot Remover directly to the water and as close as possible to the stained areas. If you have many stains it is recommended to double the dosage.
- Leave to act for 1 hour with the filtration running and filtering.
- Add 1.5 L/100m³ of Ion Magnetic directly to the water, spreading it around the perimeter. We recommend using Ion Magnetic for weekly maintenance to avoid the reappearance of stains.
- Leave filtration running for 5 hours. We recommend leaving the selector valve in filtration position for 24 hours.
