Functions of the selector valve

Filtration: normal operating position of the filter (Pump - Valve - Filter - Return).
Washing: used to wash the sand or glass filter (Pump - Valve - Filter (reverse direction) - Drain).
Rinsing: it is always done after washing the filter (Pump - Valve - Filter - Drain).
Recirculation: the water does not pass through the filter, it is used when you want to move the water but it does not pass through the filter because it is very dirty or because you want to distribute the product throughout the pool (Pump - Valve - Return).
Empty: the pool water goes directly to the drain without passing through the filter (Pump - Valve - Drain).
Closed: it is used to close the filter circuit and this position is used in winter or for cleaning processes. No circulation. Never activate the pump in this position.

Recommendations

To avoid water hammer, change the position of the selector valve with the pump disconnected.
Do not use liquid Teflon in the connections. Use Teflon tape or flat gasket.
