Phosphates are the food of algae and are generated to a greater extent in pools with salt electrolysis or active oxygen. That is why it is important to use maintenance products such as Phos Out to prevent algae proliferation in the pool.
Phosphates can be found in pool water due to:
If there is an excess of phosphates in the pool it will result in the appearance of yellow algae, they are very resistant to algaecides and disinfectants. So we recommend the following steps to eliminate phosphates and algae.
1. If algae are present, remove them with Algiklean.
2. Analyze the phosphate level with Insta Test strips.
3. Calculate the dosage according to the level obtained and the volume of the pool.
Phosphate concentration | Dosage |
200 ppb | 0,3 L/ 100m³ |
500 ppb | 0,6 L/ 100m³ |
1000 ppb | 1,2 L/ 100m³ |
more than 2500 ppb | 2,4 L/ 100m³ |
4. Add Goldenflok to remove turbidity and filter for 24 hours.
5. After 24-48 hours the phosphates will have been removed from the water.
To avoid an excess of phosphates and therefore the proliferation of algae, we recommend adding a maintenance product. To keep the phosphate level below 125 ppb, add 0.3L/100m³ of water weekly.
