Astralpool selector valves
The Astralpool selector valve is an essential component to ensure the optimal performance of your pool's filtration system. This valve, also known as a 6-way valve, performs a crucial function by communicating to the filtering system the specific task you wish to carry out: whether it is filtering the water, backwashing, rinsing, recirculation, emptying or simply shutting off the flow.
Its functional design is intended to offer exceptional versatility, adapting seamlessly to any type of installation. Thanks to its precise engineering, it guarantees perfect watertightness and easy handling for a comfortable and hassle-free experience.
Improvements to the Classic Plus selector valve
- Improved Reliability: The reliability of the valve has been improved, ensuring more consistent and reliable operation over time.
- Improved Performance: The valve now exhibits more efficient and effective performance behavior, resulting in better overall system performance.
- Environmental Sustainability: Changes have been implemented to make the valve more environmentally friendly, reducing its environmental impact during its life cycle.
- Simplified Maintenance: Adjustments have been made to facilitate the maintenance of the valve, making it easier and faster for the user.
In addition to these improvements, changes have been made to the hydraulic system:
Bend instead of 90° Elbow
The 90° installation elbow has been replaced by a bend, resulting in a lower head loss, reducing this loss by 15%-20% compared to the previous model. This improves filter performance and reduces the power requirement of the pump.
Body Seal Positioning
The body gasket is now located in the distribution hood, which facilitates maintenance and prevents dirt accumulation.
Positioning of Shaft Seals
The shaft seals have been shifted toward the cover, which decreases the possibility of frictional damage, improves ergonomics and reduces the torque required to operate the valve.

Selector valve functions
- Filtration: normal operating position of the filtering machine (Pump - Valve - Filter - Return).
- Washing: used to wash the sand or glass filter (Pump - Valve - Filter (reverse direction) - Drain).
- Rinsing: it is always done after washing the filter (Pump - Valve - Filter - Drain).
- Recirculation: the water does not pass through the filter, it is used when you want to move the water but does not pass through the filter because it is very dirty or because you want to distribute the product throughout the pool (Pump - Valve - Filter - Return).
- Empty: the pool water goes directly to the drain without passing through the filter (Pump - Valve - Drain).
- Closed: it is used to close the filter circuit and this position is used in winter or for cleaning processes. No circulation. Never activate the pump in this position.
Recommendations
- To avoid water hammer, change the position of the selector valve with the pump disconnected.
- Do not use liquid Teflon in the connections. Use Teflon tape or flat gasket.
