Pool test strips

FTK Basic Strips are perfect for quick and easy analysis of the main pool parameters. Includes 50 test strips for testing free chlorine, pH, alkalinity and isocyanuric acid. 

Components  

• 50 test strips
• Canister with standard color chart
• Instructions in several languages
• Blister presentation

Method of use

1. Immerse the test strip in the water and remove it immediately
2. Wait 15 seconds
3. Compare the color generated with the color chart on the container.

It is advisable to keep the tube tightly closed to prevent moisture from entering. Avoid handling the strips with wet or damp hands. Do not expose to sunlight. 

Parameters to be analyzed

pH

• This is the level of acidity in the water and the first parameter to be analyzed
• The pH value staircase: 6.2,6.8,7.2,7.8,8.4
• The optimum value is 7.2-7.6
• If less than 7.2 use pH increaser
• If higher than 7.6 use pH reducer

Free chlorine 

• One of the most commonly used components for the treatment of swimming pool water
• The ladder of values of free chlorine: 0,0.5,1,3,5,10 ppm
• The optimum value is between 1 and 3 ppm
• <1 we will use chlorine in tablets or granules or if the level is very low we will carry out a shock chlorination
• >3 increase the hours of filtration or use a chlorine or bromine neutralizer

Alkalinity

• Indicates the water's ability to neutralize acids and stabilize the pH
• The alkalinity value ladder: 0,40,80,120,180,240 ppm
• The optimum value is between 120 and 150 ppm
• Below 100 ppm is considered low alkalinity and we will use alkalinity increaser
• Above 175 ppm is high alkalinity and pH reducer will be used

Isocyanuric acid

• A stabilizer of chlorine that increases its permanence against solar radiation
• The isocyanuric acid value ladder: 0, 30, 50, 50, 100, 150, 300 ppm
• The level cannot exceed 75 ppm
• If this level is exceeded, the water must be renewed
